Best Doctor Who incarnation
Paul Darrow played his character,AVON,extremely well,he will be missed***
Liked the Video, hated the Music!
RIP. Fine actor. I would have loved to have seen him cast as Sherlock Holmes.
Avon had the best lines in the series, and Paul Darrow delivered them with aplomb every time. Even all these years later he makes it easy to overlook B7's flaws.
For 40 years I've used variations of Avon's quip about being sentimental about money. Because I happen to be very sentimental about my money.
My God I never knew he actual has died
Best character in Blake 7 and easily one of the best characters in the history of sci fi
Paul was made to play that part. He was supposed to play Avon
What can I say...but oh my....what is this music?
What is the familiar-looking board game they are playing at 1:02 ?
Blakes 7 was strange to watch first time around back in the 70s you thought it was about Blake but it turned out to be centred around Avon instead
So much more dramatic and engaging than the Marvel dreg of endless Superhero movies that plagued today's modern audiences. Alongside classic Who, this wonderful series proofed the maxim that characterisation is so much more important than special effects. Having said that this was real enjoyable to watch with the improved visuals. Paul Darrow's face in those final seconds though is some of the best acting I have seen.
He made the series.
Loved this when I was a kid.
where's the line about "luminous force in the galaxy" taken from?
RIP Paul Darrow. You were my first love at 9 years old .
I loved the banter between Tarrant and Avon when Tarrant was bullying Villa. Tarrant retorted to Avon: "Don't make me laugh!" Avon's deadpan and chilling repost: "Then you'll die ... laughing." What a brilliant character played by the perfect man for it. Special effects are irrelevant when there are such great characters.
A fine tribute for a fine actor
A very fine actor 👏 I genuinely wish he got more varied work after Blake's 7 because he had so much to offer. He and Jacqueline Pearce did get type cast a bit. They were brilliant and in my childhood I adored Blake's 7, it was an important feature in my childhood 😢
Good ol' Avon. Throwing out red pills to men 40 years before the internet caught on.
Don't trust nobody.
Forget Eton and Harrow, and the marchers of Jarrow, just pack up your troubles in your old wheel barrow. When the streets are narrow, and your dinner's just marrow, he is strong like bow, he is fast like an arrow. He's the leader of the farrow. He can fly like a sparrow. There's only one Avon, and that's PAUL DARROW!
Excellent 👌 👏
Its the cutting cynicism that made his character. Avon was so cynical, yet underneath that cynicism, dark and virulent as it was, their were those flickers of idealism, hence his escape with Blake.
His character had such clever comments. That's why the ultimate ending was disappointing...why would this guy who seemed two steps ahead of everyone all series suddenly not see the truth?
"You have an army of five...and HIM" lol.. Star Trek had the budgets, Blake Seven had the actors/writers.
Wonderful. Such a terrific character, so marvellously played, and still so very much missed.
The show was called Blakes 7 and was meant to be a show about Blake and his crew but I think it became clearer as the show progressed that Paul Durrow was a much stronger actor and Avon was a much better character so they switched him to the forefront. No offence to Gareth Thomas he was a good as anyone else on the show.
Possibly THE WORST actor to ever make it to TV. He'd have been below par in the WoodenTops !
The Liberator bridge, Avon has invented a device which should prevent the ship from being detected by all but the closest range scanners and direct sight. The crew put it to use and evade six Federation pursuit ships. Vila: “They missed us, Avon’s gadget works” Blake (having questioned relying on Avon’s device) “I never doubted it for a moment.” Blake (to Avon with concern) “Is something wrong?” Avon “it just occurred to me, that as the description of a highly sophisticated piece of technological equipment, “Avon’s gadget works” seems to lack a certain style.”
Avon made B7, and Darrow's Coriolanus was intense, unforgettable.
DANIEL CRAIG COULD PLAY AVON OR TRAVIS IN THE BLAKES-7 REBOOT!!!👍👍👍👍👍👍👍
He was my favourite.
Avon, one of the best sci-fi goody-baddies ever written!
Loved Avon's character, even though Paul said his part was a really, nasty piece of work. I loved his voice also. Gareth Thomas eventually decided to make Blake a bad guy too.I was quite surprised to see that in the last ever episode. Anyway, Rest in Peace Paul.
Actually, Blake wasn't a bad guy in the last episode. He was only pretending to be a bounty hunter so that he could recruit for a new rebellion. Avon didn't realise this and thought he had been betrayed. That was the tragedy of what ensued.
I remember Gareth giving an interview on the show, and he said he decided to make Blake a rebel. It certainly left me guessing if Avon managed to survive the final scene.
We all wish we were as cool as Avon! RIP Paul Darrow
What was it he said to Vila? Cant quote it precisely but it was something like this: "You have a right to your opinion but it is your opinion that we have a right to it as well that I find irritating." I think of this often when people are pontificating on matters with which I disagree. Paul Darrow and Avon, greatly missed.
"It is our assumption that we are entitled to it as well that is irritating."
@@OnafetsEnovap Thank you. Yes, it was stated more simply than I had it; however, I believe that it is "your" rather than our.
@@zzydny It does sound like "your" now that I think about it. I'll check the subtitles on my DVD copy (and the script) and get back to you. :)
MediEvil Zarok's voice? RIP 🙏🏽 🕊
Brilliant dialogue on Medievil, playing 2 at the moment.
@@MegaSimplysimon Really! I did not know that. It's been a while since that game...and they're not doing that good stuff these days. 🥲
Loved Avon!
0:49 Alex Jones was aboard!!!
Paul was a legend; what a voice, what a presence. A talent as good as any of our screen legends.
Is Robert Holmes REALLY the greatest writer Dr. Who ever had? I certainly think so!
Renegade Time Lords are ALWAYS a potential disaster just waiting to happen! But not ALL of them are bad, unfortunately for THE DOCTOR, his people seem to have a LOT of trouble realizing this!
"SIR" Roger Moore?! I forgot all about the fact that he was actually KNIGHTED!
I'm pretty sure THE TARDIS is made of something akin to "OLD IRON".
Legend!
I finished re watching this and I wish he is still alive
Avon was by far the best character in the show. Paul did a fantastic job. RIP.
Coolest man on to in the late 70s and early 80s.
The first cool computer guy?
